As the sun set over Heritage Park a couple of millennials were sitting quietly listing to music. Urban Village is a local concert that opens for the Barrie Jazz and Blues Festival. This year, the line up featured: Cool Hand & The Cadillac, Rodknee, Nothing Serious, Astin Clark, The Jacob Hamilton Band & Flight 97. This mix of acoustic, metal, rock and hip-hop celebrated the diversity of local music and bought together the old and the young, the rockers and the non-parties. Phil Heels, the MC and co organizer of the event said, “We provide something for everyone and it is fantastic to see the local community come together under the big tent for a night of awesome performances.” Indeed, the Barrie community came to together under one tent, celebrating life.
